Obituary for Mary Dahlgren
It is with sorrow that we announce that Mrs. Mary Alice Dahlgren (nee Bender) aged 102 years, quietly passed away at Concordia Hospital on Wednesday, December 7th.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Fredrick Oscar Dahlgren and her brother Carl.
She is survived by her son David: daughter-in-law, Shirley; grandchildren, Angela and Sarah Beth; great grandchildren, Zachary, Tyler, Sydney, and Kym.
Mrs Dahlgren grew up in Wauchope, Saskatchewan and attended normal school in Regina. Mary was a one-room school house teacher in rural southern Saskatchewan. She met her husband, Fred, there and they later moved to Winnipeg. Mary loved the simple things of life like tending to her garden, knitting, singing in duets, doing crosswords and word puzzles. She was exceptionally gifted in mathematics and spent time tutoring children in this subject. She never forgot a person’s birthday. She adored her grandchildren enjoying many hours being with them.
A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Dahlgren’s life will be held later in the new year.
