Obituary for John Ammeter

We are sad to announce the passing of our brother John on Tuesday, March 23, 2010 in the early hours of the morning at the Health Sciences Centre.

He was predeceased by his parents John and Emma, brothers Adolf and Ernst, sisters Mary, Anna, Hulda, Bertha, Rose, Alice and Martha. John is survived by sisters Mina (Douglas) Johnson and Edith (Donald) Besant and many nieces and nephews.

John was born on September 18, 1923. He grew up and attended school in Starbuck and after graduation attended business school in Winnipeg. He returned to Starbuck where he farmed with his father and brother for many years. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck where he was Treasurer of church council for many years.

John was presented the Order of Crocus by the Manitoba Centennial Crocus Corporation. He loved curling, hunting and fishing. He was a man of integrity with a unique sense of humour. He will be missed by family and friends.

John received exemplary care at both Carman Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre.

If friends so desire, donations can be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Starbuck or CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 1160-675 McDermot Ave., Wpg., MB R3E 0V9.
