The Heritage of our Family Funeral Home in Winnipeg
Our Family Funeral Home's Heritage
In the beginning... by Eirik Bardal

First Generation - 1885
Neil Bardal Inc. was incorporated June 6, 1980 and my mom and dad, Annette and Neil BardaI began their career in funeral service. On that day, they received two calls and began their journey as a funeral company whose purpose was to respond to people's needs in dealing with a death in the family in a caring and competent manner.
The growth of the company was substantial in the following years and the journey became challenging. The original intent was to keep the operation simple with renting vehicles when needed and using the facility of Crematorium, embalming and removal service to accommodate those needs.
Our market share was in large part the church community of Winnipeg and the good folk of the neighbourhood known as the West End of Winnipeg, the community where my dad grew up.
A Funeral Home Winnipeg Families Trust
Njall Bardal Second Generation - 1960
Our greatest strength is the people in our company. Our directors bring their own expertise and personality to their profession and in many ways have developed their own clientele over the years. Our embalmers, cremation staff and administrative people work hand in hand with the funeral directors. We start every day with staff meeting to prepare the numerous details that quality funeral service demands.
Mom and dad purchased Brooklawn Crematorium in 1982, renaming it NBI Cremation Services. It is where the cremations, embalming and removals are centred. A major expansion in 2008 saw the addition of a Great Room for services, receptions and community events. This makes us a full service funeral company with quality facilities and more importantly capable staff who personally chose their profession as people in funeral service. They make the difference and I am very proud of all of them.
Neil Bardal Funeral Centre is independent; owned and operated, by the Bardal Family. We are located at 3030 Notre Dame Avenue, across from Brookside Cemetery. Our facilities have been described as "contemporary". When families walk through our doors, they are greeted by helpful, caring staff in a comfortable setting.
Our Great Room comfortably accommodates 350 for services and receptions, and offers private rooms for viewings and the family to gather, and arrangement offices for the planning or pre-planning of funerals, all set in a relaxed atmosphere.
Our Family Funeral Home Cares
We believe that it's the caring people behind the name that sets us apart. There are thirty full and part time staff members who provide professional services to our families in need. Our licensed funeral directors are Eirik Bardal, Richard Rosin, Janice Dryden, Dave Citulsky, Shawn Arnason and Bob Gardiner.
