Book of Memories for Pamela Katrine Schlamp

Story shared: Summer of '72.

It was the summer of '72, Pam was red cross swim instructor and I was a campground attendant at Falcon lake in the whiteshell.
Her and her freind, Sandy had a Boler trailer in the campground. I knew Sandy at the time but met Pam and she was a very special person.
Pam was driving her dad's big Chrysler station wagon and she took me to Elenor lake to meet her parents.
We had a wonderful summer together as teenagers.
After the summer, I moved to BC with my family and we lost touch as our lives moved forward.
I'm sorry her life was so short. I'm sure Pam was a wonderful person to know and love.
I'm sure very few will see this as it's been 4 years since her passing. I'd love to know more about her life.

Like most of Pam's aquasize students, her death came to me as a complete surprise. (I was away in September so hadn't seen her since mid-August.) After I heard of her death, it hit me that I'd been with her once or twice a week for 12 years! That is a lot of time. I loved her smile, her encouragement, her love of life, her knowing everyone's names and keeping her whole varied lesson plans in he head and adjusted to the needs of each group. I am so glad that I attended her memorial service today--to get to know her better and to reconnect with so many people I'd met in her classes over the years. Kudos to City of Winnipeg Recreation and Leisure for the work to keep her classes going.

Dean and I are in complete shock to hear of my dear friend Pam's passing on Monday. I still can't believe it even looking at her picture in this website.....it MUST be in error. Pam and I went to school together (Tuxedo Shaftesbury High ) and initially grew up on the same street, Kelvin Blvd. We both had a similar passion in life and that was swimming, so we both became swimmer instructors, something Pam was just outstanding at!! She has helped many people where she worked at the Sherbrooke Pool. Pam was my maid of honour at our wedding on Dec 29 1978, almost 39 years ago! She was a special person...so full of life. I can still hear her voice and her addicting laugh!!! We will truly miss her. Our world has lost one of its best. Til we meet again, my friend Love Sandy
